Tips For Booking The Cheapest Flight
1. Book early for cheap flights
Airplane tickets have jumped in different levels of price within the final three to four weeks before departure. Therefore, the easiest way to get the lowest price is to book as soon as you can. Remember to book for three months to 30 days from departure in order to secure the best rates. Another reason to book early is to make sure that you get the expected seat, as long as it’s allowed by the airlines. For instance, you can pay the same price for a seat that’s next to the bathroom and one at the front of the cabin, especially for the peak season flight. You may have to pay extra money for a premium seat.
2. Set Price Alerts
If you cannot book your flight today, no worries, because the price will only go up if you wait until the last minute to make a payment. To make this semi-automated and easier, you can set up email alerts through the sign up for fare alerts in order to be notified when a price goes down. Even with the small drop from the flight fluctuation, you can save a large amount of money, especially when buying a ticket for a whole family or a group.
3. Be flexible
Instead of traveling on the normal weekend, you can save money by traveling on mid-week or on the actual holiday such as Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day (if you don’t mind about your family gathering or any kind of reunion) since fewer people travel on these special days. Another way to get cheaper tickets is by flying to a different airport, for example, flying into Tampa instead of Orlando in order to save $30 for a ticket.
4. Book a connecting flight
If you have time and are not in a hurry to get to the final destination, a connecting flight might be a good choice. You can book a connecting flight by choosing the number of stops in the filter flight itineraries. Even flying mixed carriers might be able to save you some cash as well.
5. Use more than one travel portal
Before you make a payment, you should compare the price with one or two third-parties booking sites. Sometimes, the better price can be found from a third-party site due to promotion.
